84th Academy Awards - February 26, 2012

Oscars_credit.JPG

I was honored to have been a part of the mix team for the Oscars.

If you haven't already, please have a listen and purchase the Oscars album on iTunes. All proceeds go to the Academy Awards charitable foundation. The album contains variations on Hans' Oscar theme, by well known artsist and composers, as well as a very beautiful choral arrangement of my favorite song, "What A Wonderful World". Esperanza Spalding sings a very emotional lead vocal that I'm very proud to have my name attached to.

Ironclad out today! - July 26, 2011

This was "officially" the first movie score I mixed back in 2010. This is my favorite score I've worked on thus far. It kills me every time I listen to it.  Fantastic melodies, amazing musicianship and when the choir comes in... Wow! I highly recommend you give this one a listen.

Composed by Lorne Balfe. I mixed at Remote Control's Studio A.

Pirates IV opens today! - May 20, 2011

Megamind.jpg

Megamind, with music by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe and mixed by me, opened at #1 this past weekend. It was great to see my name on the big screen, in IMAX 3D no less!

I've also mixed 2 other upcoming releases. Red Dawn with music by Ramin Djawadi and Ironclad with music by Lorne Balfe. Look for those coming out early 2011.

Upcoming Hans Zimmer projects I've been working on are "The Dilemma", How Do You Know" and "Rango". I believe they are to be released in the coming weeks.

Recording, Mixing & "Army Wives" - August 30, 2009

The last 2 months have been filled with music.

Mainly I've been trying to catch up with an influx of songs from Fiona, who's been on a writing spree as of late. We have 5 brand new ones and 3 or 4 more that we're going to tweak the lyrics on slightly so look out for new music soon.

I recorded guitar overdubs at my studio for a new Steve Dorff (Through the Years by Kenny Rogers, Cross My Heart by George Strait) song.

Mixed a new song by singer/songwriter Fuzzbee Morse, with Tony Levin on bass and Jerry Marotta on drums. Also began work on 4 new songs from singer/songwriter Troy MacCubbin (T.A.T.U). We'll be trying to get these 4 songs by the end of September. I'll keep you informed about that as we get on.

Also, one of Fiona's songs has been used in a new "Army Wives" episode to air in a couple of weeks on the Lifetime network. I'll let you know the exact episode soon. You can hear the song "Reality Check" on her myspace page.

Chat soon,

Daniel

Back from Oahu! - July 15, 2009

Back in the saddle after going to Hawaii with Fiona to celebrate our first 10 years together. Had a great trip. The swimming and snorkeling was absolutely amazing! Looking at our photos, you'd think we were in a pool and other times in an aquarium. Swimming with a Green Sea Turtle in Waimea Bay was particularly cool. Being in a metal cage as sharks swam around was mighty cool as well. I highly recommend that experience.

Go here to see some photos.

Have some co-writing coming up next week that Fiona and I are preparing for. Let you know more about that next time.

Recorded another song for Marissa DiBlasio last month before I went away. You can hear it on her myspace page. The latest was "Anything But Ordinary Love". The other 2 I recorded were "Changing Lanes" & "Penniless Love". She's a talented songwriter and worth a listen.

Been catching up on songs for Fiona as well. I have 4 new songs that just need her vocals. We'll be recording those in between writing sessions in the coming days.

Fiona may start writing for her next record soon as well. Very excited about that.

We'll keep you posted.

See ya next time,

Daniel

"Shadows Of The Past" in theaters this May! - April 13, 2009

"Shadows Of The Past", a film I worked on, is coming to Australian theaters in May. I mixed the score of composer Mark Buys, here in my studio in L.A. It's a bit of a family affair. Tania has a role in it, and Fiona has 3 songs in it! Check it out if you can! For further information about the film check out shadowsofthepast.com.
